Bitcoin Experiences Volatility Amid Shifting Federal Reserve Expectations

Bitcoin's price exhibited significant volatility at the end of last week, influenced by comments from Federal Reserve official Christopher Waller. On Thursday, Waller's dovish remarks led to a spike in Bitcoin's value as traders adjusted their expectations regarding interest rates, reducing the likelihood of a rate hike in September. However, this upward momentum was short-lived, as Friday's U.S. Non-Farm Payroll (NFP) report revealed job growth in August that nearly tripled analysts' expectations, prompting a reassessment of rate hike probabilities back to pre-Waller levels.

As the market anticipates the upcoming U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) data, Bitcoin's price action is expected to remain relatively stable or slightly negative. Analysts suggest that unless there is a significant development in U.S.-Iran relations, traders may begin to hedge their positions ahead of the CPI release. A CPI report that aligns with or is softer than expectations could provide a boost to Bitcoin, while a surprise increase in core inflation could lead to further sell-offs as market sentiment shifts towards a more hawkish outlook.

Technical analysis indicates that Bitcoin recently tested a key resistance level at $82,500 following Waller's comments. Sellers entered the market at this level, pushing the price back towards the support level of $76,000. Buyers are looking for a return to this support to position for a potential rally towards $98,000, while sellers are focused on maintaining downward momentum. Upcoming economic reports, including the U.S. Producer Price Index (PPI) and Jobless Claims figures, will further influence market dynamics as the week progresses.
