Circle Internet (CRCL) Stock Surges 10% on Strong USDC Adoption Data
Key Takeaways
- CRCL shares surged 9.56% during regular hours and extended gains by 2.37% after-hours, reaching $80.45
- USDC recorded a 209% year-over-year increase in transactions during the first half of 2026, contrasting with declining USDT activity
- Bitcoin rallied nearly 8%, crossing the $70,000 threshold and boosting crypto-related equities like Circle
- White House crypto summit featured President Trump advocating for CLARITY Act legislation
- Wall Street analysts assign CRCL a consensus Moderate Buy with a $98.61 average price target
Circle Internet Group (CRCL) delivered an impressive performance on August 19, with shares advancing 9.56% to close at $78.59 in regular market hours. The momentum continued into extended trading, where the stock added another 2.37% to reach $80.45.
The rally stemmed from a combination of favorable developments: compelling evidence of USDC’s competitive momentum versus Tether, coupled with a widespread upswing in cryptocurrency-exposed stocks.
According to recent data, USDC transactions experienced a remarkable 209% year-over-year expansion in the first six months of 2026, while transaction volume climbed 101% during the comparable timeframe. In contrast, Tether’s USDT experienced a contraction in transaction activity, despite maintaining its position as the dominant stablecoin.
NOWPayments, a cryptocurrency payment processor, released the findings. The company acknowledged that USDT continues to provide the scale and liquidity that most enterprises depend on, while highlighting USDC’s emergence as a compelling alternative.
The payment firm also observed growing adoption of both stablecoins for routine business functions, encompassing payroll distribution and treasury management. NOWPayments characterized stablecoins as evolving into essential business infrastructure rather than merely serving as payment mechanisms.
Broader Crypto Momentum Supports CRCL
Circle’s stock performance was part of a larger market trend. Bitcoin posted gains approaching 8% on Wednesday, climbing to $70,000 and marking its strongest level since the beginning of June. This upward movement provided a tailwind for numerous cryptocurrency-related stocks, with Circle benefiting significantly.
Declining yields on U.S. Treasuries provided additional support. Following the Treasury Department’s expansion of its bond repurchase initiative, the 30-year yield declined to approximately 5.2%, while the 10-year note settled around 4.65%.
Anticipation surrounding President Trump’s scheduled White House gathering with cryptocurrency industry leaders contributed to the optimistic sentiment. The meeting followed the SEC’s unexpected cancellation of a related event and fueled expectations for enhanced regulatory clarity through the CLARITY Act.
During the summit, Trump encouraged lawmakers to advance the CLARITY Act, characterizing it as comprehensive legislation designed to maintain American leadership over China in the digital asset sector.

From a technical perspective, CRCL registers an RSI reading of 61.76. The company commands a market capitalization of $19.95 billion, with shares oscillating within a 52-week range spanning from $49.90 to $159.47.
