Ethereum (ETH) Price Eyes $3,000 Milestone as Analyst Confidence Builds

      Key Highlights

      • Ethereum hovers around $2,729, posting gains of approximately 1% with an intraday peak at $2,746
      • The asset has rallied from approximately $1,500 in June, establishing a sequence of ascending lows
      • Buyers are challenging the $2,750-$2,800 resistance barrier, eyeing $3,000 as the subsequent objective
      • Spot Ether ETFs in the United States attracted approximately $690 million in the week spanning Sept. 21-25
      • Citi has upgraded its 12-month price forecast for ETH from $2,240 to $3,028

Ethereum is currently changing hands near $2,729 as of October 2, with market participants continuing to push against the $2,750-$2,800 resistance threshold. The digital asset began the trading session around $2,705 and climbed to an intraday maximum of $2,746.

At the time of analysis, ETH had posted daily gains of approximately 1%. This upward movement builds on a broader recovery that commenced in June.

Following a bottom formation near $1,500, Ethereum has established a consistent pattern characterized by ascending support levels. An upward-sloping trend line originating from that June low currently intersects around the $2,400 zone, with price action remaining firmly positioned above this technical baseline.

Throughout September, ETH successfully penetrated a resistance band ranging from $2,400 to $2,500. This area had previously halted multiple bullish attempts, and market participants now regard it as potential support should prices retrace.

Market watchers focus on $2,800 breakout level

Current technical attention centers on the $2,750-$2,800 price range. Ethereum dedicated most of September to consolidating between $2,450 and $2,600 before launching its latest advance.

A definitive daily closing price above $2,800 would validate the breakout scenario and reintroduce the $3,000 milestone into immediate focus. Beyond $3,000, chart-based resistance intensifies around the $3,300-$3,450 corridor, an area linked to earlier price behavior before Ethereum’s pullback earlier this year.

For downside scenarios, initial support emerges around $2,450-$2,500. Beneath that level, the ascending trend line provides an additional support layer near $2,400. A more substantial decline would shift attention back to the $1,850-$2,000 range, although ETH currently trades well above these levels.

Momentum indicators show strength but with signs of deceleration. The daily Relative Strength Index registers at 65.86, positioned above the neutral 50 threshold yet below the overbought zone of 70.

The MACD indicator presents a somewhat ambiguous short-term outlook. The MACD line stands near 75.06, trailing beneath the signal line at 82.02, with the histogram displaying a slightly negative reading around -6.96. This configuration suggests an uptrend that remains valid but is experiencing some momentum loss near resistance levels.

Market analyst Michaël van de Poppe offered a comparable interpretation of the technical setup. He noted that the pattern observed across other assets is also visible on $ETH, suggesting that breaching resistance would make reaching $3,000 “a matter of time.”

ETF capital flows support bullish case

Institutional participation has strengthened following a quieter period in early September. Spot Ether exchange-traded funds in the United States recorded approximately $690 million in net inflows during the week of Sept. 21-25, representing the most robust weekly performance since late August.

BlackRock’s ETHA product dominated the inflows with approximately $326 million. Fidelity’s FETH contributed around $174 million, while Grayscale’s Ethereum Mini Trust attracted close to $100 million.

Flow dynamics weakened slightly as September concluded, with modest outflows recorded in the final trading days. Nevertheless, aggregate inflows remain positioned near $14 billion, significantly outpacing earlier 2026 performance.

A network upgrade adds another potential catalyst to the outlook. The Glamsterdam upgrade is scheduled for deployment on the Sepolia testnet in early October, designed to enhance execution efficiency, node synchronization capabilities, and overall network scalability.

Citi analysts have revised their 12-month Ethereum price projection upward from $2,240 to $3,028, citing increased cryptocurrency market activity and resurgent ETF demand as primary factors behind the adjustment.

Ethereum continues trading above its ascending daily trend line, positioned near $2,730 with the RSI holding steady at 65.86 as buyers test the $2,750-$2,800 resistance zone.
