Gold Prices Stabilize Below $4,200 Amid Market Anticipation of US Jobs Report

Gold prices are currently stabilizing just below the $4,200 mark, with recent trading showing increased buyer activity, although it remains insufficient to alter the overall market sentiment. Following a significant selloff earlier in the week, the price of gold has managed to rise above its 100-hour moving average, currently around $4,164. However, the market remains cautious as Treasury yields continue to be elevated, impacting the precious metal's performance.

The $4,200 level is seen as a critical resistance point, with further technical interest at the 200-hour moving average near $4,235. The previous support level around $4,240 also holds significance, as reclaiming this range could improve the short-term outlook for gold. Conversely, the recent lows near $4,100 serve as a major support level, with the psychological threshold of $4,000 lying beneath it.

Market participants are closely watching the upcoming US jobs report, which could influence gold prices significantly. A weaker jobs report may provide gold buyers with an opportunity to strengthen their position, while stronger payroll and wage figures could lead to renewed selling pressure in Treasuries, potentially hindering gold's recovery. This week, 10-year Treasury yields reached 5.34%, the highest level since 2002, before easing, indicating that bond market reactions will be crucial for gold's trajectory.
