Eurozone and US Economic Reports Expected Today

The Eurozone is set to release its Flash Consumer Price Index (CPI) report today, with expectations for the headline CPI year-on-year to rise to 3.6%, up from 3.2% previously. The Core CPI year-on-year is anticipated to increase to 2.5%, compared to 2.4% prior. Analysts suggest that a significant upside surprise in these figures may prompt the European Central Bank (ECB) to consider a rate hike in October, while in-line or lower results could lead to a steady policy rate.

In the United States, the Non-Farm Payroll (NFP) report is expected to show an addition of 90,000 jobs, a decrease from the previous 162,000. The unemployment rate is projected to remain stable at 4.1%. Average Hourly Earnings year-on-year is forecasted to hold steady at 3.1%. Recent dovish comments from Federal Reserve officials have lowered the probability of a rate hike in October to 23%, indicating a cautious approach to tightening monetary policy. A strong NFP report could shift these expectations, but weak data may not significantly alter the overall positive trend in US job growth.

Several central bank officials are scheduled to speak today, including members from both the ECB and the Federal Reserve, which may provide further insights into their monetary policy outlooks.
