Bitget Freezes Portion of $388 Million Stolen in Recent Hack
Bitget, a cryptocurrency exchange, has reported that it has managed to freeze a small fraction of the $387.5 million stolen during a recent hack. The incident, which occurred last week, has raised concerns about the security measures in place at the exchange.
In response to the breach, Bitget has also restored a significant portion of its protection fund, which is designed to safeguard users' assets. Despite these efforts, the company's CEO indicated that they do not expect to recover a substantial amount of the stolen funds.
The hack highlights ongoing vulnerabilities within the cryptocurrency sector, prompting exchanges to reevaluate their security protocols. As the industry continues to grow, incidents like this underscore the importance of robust cybersecurity measures.
