EUR/USD Struggles to Break Above Key Resistance Levels Amid Rising US Treasury Yields

The EUR/USD currency pair experienced slight upward movement, briefly surpassing the 1.1600 mark during European morning trading. However, the dollar faced pressure as tensions between the US and Iran continued to escalate, influencing the bond market and contributing to rising yields. Currently, the yield on 10-year US Treasuries is nearing 4.74%, while 30-year yields have reached 5.32%, marking the highest levels since 2007.

Despite a push above the 100-day moving average, buyers were unable to maintain momentum, facing resistance at the 50.0 Fibonacci retracement level around 1.1586. Analysts suggest that a firm break above these key technical levels is necessary for a significant upward movement in the EUR/USD pair. The likelihood of a rate hike by the Federal Reserve in September has increased slightly, now estimated at around 35%.

As the market watches for potential interventions, particularly from the Japanese yen, the outlook for the euro remains cautious. Any actions from the US Treasury could further influence the EUR/USD dynamics, potentially limiting any advances against the dollar. For now, the EUR/USD remains in a holding pattern, testing key levels without achieving a decisive breakout.
