Shares of Five Below touched a record level of $251.71 this Monday, completing a remarkable 78% advance throughout the past year. The discount retailer currently commands a market capitalization of $13.84 billion with a price-to-earnings multiple of 31.60.
This milestone follows closely on the heels of impressive quarterly results. The company delivered second quarter earnings per share of $2.22, surpassing analyst projections of $1.77 by forty-five cents. Total revenue reached $1.29 billion, representing a 32.5% year-over-year increase and exceeding the consensus forecast of $1.23 billion.
This performance stands in stark contrast to the same period last year when EPS registered at only $0.86, a dramatic improvement that captured significant attention from institutional investors.
Looking ahead to the full fiscal year, Five Below provided guidance for earnings per share between $8.65 and $9.05. Wall Street analysts are currently modeling $9.08 EPS for fiscal year 2026.
According to a 13F filing, BlackRock acquired 5.37 million shares of Five Below during the second quarter, representing an investment of approximately $965 million. This transaction established a 9.71% ownership stake for the world’s largest asset manager.
Institutional Investment Wave
The BlackRock transaction represents among the most substantial recent institutional purchases of Five Below equity. Additional investment firms have similarly expanded their holdings, including Global Retirement Partners, Bessemer Group, and V Square Quantitative Management.
Technical indicators show the 50-day moving average positioned at $206.24, while the 200-day moving average stands at $214.45, both meaningfully below current trading levels. The stock’s 52-week low point was established at $137.77.
Rating upgrades emerged swiftly following the earnings announcement. Raymond James elevated Five Below to Outperform status in July. Jefferies transitioned from Hold to Buy, raising its target price from $210 to $350 while characterizing the retailer as a “durable growth story.”
Wall Street Perspective
UBS maintained its Buy recommendation and held steady with a $285 price objective, indicating expectations that upcoming earnings reports will demonstrate sustainable expansion. Wells Fargo similarly expressed confidence regarding comparable-store sales performance and tariff-related developments.
Weiss Ratings did adjust its stance from Hold (C+) to Hold (C) in early June. Wall Street Zen similarly shifted from Buy to Hold in recent weeks.
The aggregate Street view: one analyst assigns a Strong Buy rating, 19 recommend Buy, 10 maintain Hold ratings, and two suggest Sell. The consensus target price stands at $262.80.
