FX Option Expiries Highlighted for October 8

On October 8, notable foreign exchange option expiries are set to occur, particularly for the EUR/USD pair at the 1.1150 level, which is slightly above the current spot price by over 50 pips. While this expiry level is not considered technically significant, it is the most relevant for traders to monitor as the dollar may strengthen, potentially causing the EUR/USD to drift lower.

Additionally, there is an expiry for USD/JPY at the 158.00 level, positioned less than 20 pips from the spot price. This could influence price action around this figure level as the market approaches the expiry time, provided that broader market movements do not overshadow the impact of these options.

In the broader context, the bond market remains a crucial factor for dollar sentiment. Following a slight decline in U.S. Treasury yields late in the previous trading session, yields have rebounded in Asian trading. Currently, 10-year Treasury yields are near multi-decade highs at 5.31%, while 30-year yields stand at 5.69%. Any further increases in yields could contribute to a stronger dollar during European trading, especially as there are few economic indicators scheduled to affect market sentiment.
