Gold Prices Drop Nearly $100, Reaching Lowest Level Since August

Gold prices have experienced a significant decline, falling close to $100 and trading around $4,353, after hitting a session low of $4,326.38. This drop has pushed the price below the 100-day moving average of $4,379.81, indicating increased control by sellers in the market. The last time gold traded above this moving average was on August 19.

Yesterday, buyers attempted to support the price at the moving average, resulting in a brief bounce to $4,464. However, today's trading saw buyers unable to maintain that support, leading to further selling pressure. The 100-day moving average now serves as a critical benchmark for future price movements, with buyers needing to reclaim and hold above this level to regain control.

In addition to the decline in gold prices, U.S. yields and the dollar have risen, while crude oil prices have also increased by over $3.80. These factors are contributing to the downward trend in gold prices, with the next downside targets identified at $4,319.75 and the lows from August 10 and 14 near $4,310.61. A break below these levels could lead to further declines.
