Gold Prices Fluctuate Amidst Technical Battle Between Buyers and Sellers

Gold prices are currently experiencing volatility as buyers and sellers contest control within a defined trading range. At the beginning of September, the price fell below the 100-day moving average, which was approximately $4,384, reaching a low of $4,283 on September 2. However, aggressive buying on September 3 pushed the price back up to around $4,510, indicating a struggle for dominance in the market.

Recent trading activity has shown a more balanced approach, with a decline to about $4,345 yesterday, near a key upward-sloping trendline connecting the lows from August and September 2. This trendline held firm, allowing the price to rise above the 100-day moving average, currently situated near $4,361. This movement has encouraged buyers to target the converged 100- and 200-hour moving averages, which are positioned between $4,420 and $4,422.

Sellers, however, have been active at these hourly moving averages, as their convergence often signals a stronger technical resistance. The ongoing price action suggests that as long as gold remains between the support levels near $4,361 and the resistance levels around $4,420–$4,422, traders should anticipate continued fluctuations. A sustained breakout above the hourly moving averages could lead to another rally towards the September 3 high, while a drop below the 100-day moving average would likely shift control to sellers.
