Hyperliquid (HYPE) Surges to $83 Following Hashdex ETF Addition and $2.5B Facility Expansion
Key Highlights
- Hyperliquid’s HYPE token gained 1.29% to approximately $83 following its addition to Hashdex’s NCIQ cryptocurrency ETF
- The token secured a 3.36% allocation in the Nasdaq CME Crypto Index, bringing the fund’s total holdings to nine digital assets
- On September 1, Hyperliquid Strategies increased its equity financing arrangement with Chardan Capital Markets from $1 billion to $2.5 billion
- Crypto analyst Ted (@TedPillows) reported on X that a major investor acquired $11.8 million worth of HYPE within 24 hours
- Discussions are underway between Hyperliquid and Kraken’s parent company Payward regarding regulated perpetual futures offerings for U.S. market participants
The native token of Hyperliquid, HYPE, is currently changing hands at approximately $83, reflecting a 1.29% increase following simultaneous announcements. Investment firm Hashdex incorporated HYPE into its diversified spot cryptocurrency ETF, while Hyperliquid Strategies announced an expansion of its equity financing capabilities to $2.5 billion.

The modification to Hashdex’s Nasdaq CME Crypto Index ETF, trading under the symbol NCIQ, took effect on September 1, 2026. The portfolio now encompasses nine cryptocurrency holdings, expanding from its previous count of eight.
HYPE joins the index composition with a 3.36% allocation. Bitcoin maintains its position as the dominant holding at 74.36%, with Ethereum accounting for 11.88%, XRP representing 5.21%, and Solana comprising 3.79%.
The revised index composition features Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Hyperliquid, Stellar, Cardano, Chainlink, and Bitcoin Cash.
Hashdex introduced NCIQ in February 2025 initially holding only Bitcoin and Ethereum. The fund operates under a systematic methodology that evaluates factors including liquidity metrics, market capitalization, custodial infrastructure, and compliance with regulatory listing requirements.
According to Hashdex CIO Samir Kerbage, the fund’s expansion was part of the original vision. “When we launched NCIQ in February 2025 with two assets, the whole point was that the portfolio would expand,” Kerbage stated.
Kerbage further emphasized that Hyperliquid’s decentralized exchange infrastructure and emerging regulatory clarity have enhanced the protocol’s significance within traditional financial markets.
Hyperliquid Strategies Boosts Financing Capacity
Coinciding with the ETF news, Hyperliquid Strategies submitted documentation to the SEC expanding its equity financing arrangement with Chardan Capital Markets from $1 billion to $2.5 billion. This increased facility represents available capacity rather than capital already secured.
The final amount raised will be determined by executed share transactions and prevailing market prices. The organization has previously indicated that capital raised might be deployed for general business operations, potentially including HYPE token acquisitions, though no specific allocation requirements exist.
As of August 19, Hyperliquid Strategies maintained a position of 29.3 million HYPE tokens. Beginning in December 2025, the firm deployed approximately $773.4 million to accumulate around 16.5 million tokens at a weighted average cost of $46.77 per token.
PURR, the firm’s publicly traded equity on Nasdaq, settled at $11.36 on September 1, representing a 7.3% decline for the session. This valuation remains under the $12.02 reference threshold linked to share issuance restrictions outlined in the revised financing agreement.
