Key FX Option Expiries Set for October 15 Impact Currency Trading
On October 15, significant foreign exchange option expiries are anticipated to influence trading activity, particularly for the EUR/USD and USD/JPY currency pairs. The EUR/USD expiry is set at the 1.1250 level, which is positioned approximately 40 pips from the current spot price. As the U.S. dollar weakens alongside declining Treasury yields, this expiry could play a crucial role in shaping market movements, especially if the pair continues to rise in the upcoming trading session.
The EUR/USD has recently shown bullish momentum, breaking above both the 100-hour and 200-hour moving averages for the first time in five weeks. This shift in trend may keep traders focused on the 1.1250 expiry level, potentially limiting price fluctuations as the market approaches the cut-off time. Meanwhile, for USD/JPY, the expiry is set at 158.00, just 5 pips from the current spot price, which could anchor trading activity around this figure as well.
In addition, the EUR/GBP expiry at the 0.8480 level, located 11 pips above the spot price, may attract attention if the cross moves higher. However, the overall impact of these expiries will largely depend on broader market trends affecting the euro and sterling. As traders navigate these levels, they will also need to consider the influence of Treasury yields and potential intervention headlines that could affect the dollar pairs.
