Micron Technology Reports Strong Fourth-Quarter Results and Optimistic First-Quarter Guidance

Micron Technology, a leading semiconductor manufacturer, has reported fourth-quarter results that exceeded analyst expectations across key financial metrics. The company achieved an adjusted revenue of approximately $54.2 billion, surpassing forecasts of around $51 billion. Adjusted earnings per share (EPS) reached nearly $33.40, exceeding estimates of just under $32. The adjusted gross margin was reported at 87%, slightly above the anticipated 86.2%, indicating robust profitability amid strong demand.

The breakdown of revenue by segment revealed significant strength, particularly in the Automotive and Embedded sectors, which generated about $6.8 billion, far exceeding expectations of roughly $4.7 billion. Cloud Memory revenue also performed well, totaling approximately $16.3 billion compared to the expected $15.1 billion. Mobile & Client sales reached around $13.1 billion, modestly surpassing the forecast of $13.0 billion, suggesting a broadening demand across various markets.

Looking ahead, Micron has provided a first-quarter revenue outlook of $60 billion to $63 billion, significantly above the consensus estimate of around $57 billion. The company also guided adjusted EPS to be in the range of $37 to $39, which is higher than the expected $35.40 to $36. This guidance implies a sequential revenue growth of over 10%, a notable pace for a company of Micron's size. However, the forecasted gross margin of approximately 86% is slightly below the previously reported figure and analysts' expectations, which may prompt further scrutiny during the upcoming earnings call regarding the factors influencing this outlook.
