Netflix Reports Q3 Earnings Beat but Lowers Full-Year Targets

Netflix has reported third-quarter earnings for 2026 that exceeded analysts' expectations, with earnings per share at 87 cents compared to the anticipated 82 cents. Revenue for the quarter reached approximately $12.9 billion, aligning with forecasts. However, the company's outlook for the fourth quarter and full year has raised concerns among investors, as it has lowered its free cash flow target and provided guidance that falls short of consensus estimates.

For the fourth quarter, Netflix expects revenue of about $13.4 billion, slightly below the $13.5 billion forecast, and earnings per share of 67 cents, which is lower than the expected 73 cents. The projected operating margin of 26% also falls short of the nearly 28% consensus. Additionally, the company has revised its full-year revenue target to approximately $51.1 billion, at the lower end of its previous range, with revenue growth now projected at 13%.

The most significant adjustment comes in the form of a reduced full-year free cash flow forecast, now set at about $12 billion, down from $12.5 billion and below the consensus of $12.6 billion. Despite these adjustments, Netflix management indicated that organizational changes are enabling the company to invest in high-impact areas, suggesting that the lower margins and cash flow guidance may be a result of strategic spending rather than a decline in demand. This distinction will be crucial for investors as they assess the company's future growth potential.
