Nvidia (NVDA) Acquires Hugging Face: Snowflake (SNOW) Surges and Broadcom’s (AVGO) AI Chip Projections
Quick Summary
- Nvidia completes acquisition of Hugging Face, the AI platform, in a deal valued at nearly $13 billion
- Snowflake stock surged over 20% following robust quarterly results and upgraded guidance
- Broadcom forecasts its AI semiconductor division could generate $230 billion in revenue by 2028
- Hewlett Packard Enterprise boosted revenue projections after posting a 33.7% jump in sales
- Crude oil climbed to six-week peaks amid escalating U.S.-Iran geopolitical tensions
Nvidia Secures Hugging Face in $12.93 Billion Transaction
Nvidia has finalized an agreement to acquire Hugging Face, a leading open-source AI model platform utilized globally by developers, in a transaction valued at approximately $12.93 billion.
This purchase represents one of Nvidia’s most substantial acquisitions to date. The move signals the chipmaker’s strategic expansion beyond hardware into AI software infrastructure and development tools.
Hugging Face serves as a central hub where developers worldwide access machine learning models, training datasets, and collaborative development resources. Company officials have indicated the platform will maintain its open-access philosophy following the transaction’s completion.
The timing of this acquisition is noteworthy as several of Nvidia’s major clients have begun developing proprietary semiconductor solutions. By securing Hugging Face, Nvidia strengthens its position in the AI development ecosystem independent of underlying hardware preferences.
Snowflake Stock Rallies Over 20% on Robust AI-Driven Performance
Snowflake shares experienced a surge exceeding 20% following the data cloud provider’s announcement of better-than-anticipated quarterly performance and an upward revision of revenue projections.
The company posted second-quarter product revenue of $1.49 billion, representing 37% growth. Consolidated revenue for the period reached $1.55 billion.
Management has elevated its fiscal 2027 product revenue forecast to approximately $6.07 billion, a significant increase from the prior estimate of $5.84 billion.
Chief Executive Sridhar Ramaswamy attributed roughly half of the company’s recent growth acceleration to AI-related offerings. This positions Snowflake as a beneficiary of the AI revolution, contrasting with enterprise software providers viewing artificial intelligence as disruptive competition.
Broadcom Projects $230 Billion AI Semiconductor Revenue Target for 2028
Broadcom has unveiled ambitious projections for its AI chip division, anticipating revenue to reach approximately $115 billion in fiscal 2027 before potentially doubling to $230 billion the following year.
The company’s third-quarter AI chip sales hit $16.7 billion, contributing to total quarterly revenue of $29.59 billion.
Broadcom has emerged as a critical partner in custom AI processor development for major technology corporations. These customized solutions provide alternatives to exclusive dependence on Nvidia’s chip offerings.
Market reaction proved mixed, with Broadcom shares declining as near-term guidance fell marginally short of analyst projections despite the impressive long-term outlook.
HPE Posts 33.7% Revenue Surge Driven by AI Infrastructure Demand
Hewlett Packard Enterprise delivered quarterly revenue of $12.21 billion, marking a 33.7% year-over-year increase that surpassed Wall Street estimates. Adjusted per-share earnings of $1.11 likewise exceeded analyst expectations.
The enterprise technology provider elevated its fiscal 2026 revenue growth projection to a range of 34% to 37%. For fiscal 2027, HPE anticipates sustained expansion between 13% and 17%.
According to HPE’s Chief Financial Officer, current demand for AI-optimized servers and networking infrastructure significantly exceeds available supply. Memory modules and component availability continue constraining order fulfillment capacity.
HPE has also deepened its collaboration with Oracle, agreeing to provide networking equipment supporting Oracle’s artificial intelligence data center expansion initiative.
Crude Oil Reaches Six-Week Peak on Escalating Iran Concerns
Brent crude advanced approximately 1.7% to $97.29 per barrel. West Texas Intermediate increased roughly 2.2% to $93.04, driving oil prices to their highest levels in six weeks.
The rally followed fresh U.S. military operations targeting Iran and heightened anxiety surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, through which a substantial portion of global petroleum shipments transit.
Elevated crude prices threaten to increase fuel and logistics expenses across industries. Such inflationary pressures may influence Federal Reserve deliberations regarding future monetary policy adjustments.
