American equity futures trended upward Thursday morning as impressive technology sector earnings reports boosted market confidence following Wednesday’s trading session.
Futures tied to the Nasdaq 100 climbed 1.1%, with S&P 500 contracts advancing 0.5%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures dipped modestly, shedding approximately 55 points.

The semiconductor powerhouse Nvidia emerged as the session’s top gainer. The company unveiled second-quarter financial results that exceeded Wall Street projections while providing optimistic revenue guidance through fiscal year 2028.
Nvidia shares climbed 7% during pre-market hours. Company executives emphasized that artificial intelligence chip demand continues to show robust momentum heading into the coming year, easing concerns among investors about the sustainability of AI-driven growth.
Chief Executive Jensen Huang addressed the firm’s artificial intelligence investment approach, noting his sole regret was not committing greater resources earlier to AI research facilities.
Chip Leader Announces Blockbuster Deal
In a significant parallel announcement, Nvidia confirmed its agreement to acquire Hugging Face, a popular open-source artificial intelligence platform, in a transaction valued at $12.9 billion. The Information initially broke the story Wednesday evening.
Hugging Face has become a go-to resource for software developers and AI researchers seeking to distribute and utilize machine learning models. This strategic purchase positions Nvidia to expand its influence throughout the AI software ecosystem.
Additional technology companies also posted impressive quarterly performances. Salesforce, CrowdStrike, and Okta each reported figures that surpassed analyst expectations.
CrowdStrike shares gained over 2% in early trading. Salesforce stock remained relatively flat.
Deutsche Bank’s economist Peter Sidorov noted that market sentiment had shifted favorably overnight after Nvidia’s disclosure. He emphasized that the company’s forward-looking revenue projections indicate sustained enthusiasm surrounding artificial intelligence demand expansion through next year.
All Eyes Turn to Jackson Hole
Market participants will now redirect their focus toward the Federal Reserve’s annual Jackson Hole Economic Symposium, commencing Thursday.
Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh is slated to present the featured speech Friday. Traders will scrutinize his remarks for indications regarding future monetary policy adjustments.
Treasury yields have stabilized following last week’s sharp increase. Financial markets continue evaluating the probability that the Fed will maintain interest rates at present levels.
Thursday’s release of weekly unemployment claims figures provided additional insight into current labor market conditions.
Looking ahead, Dollar General and Dollar Tree are scheduled to announce quarterly results. These budget-focused retailers have recently attracted more affluent consumers, making their performance metrics particularly relevant for understanding broader spending patterns.
Wednesday’s session concluded with modest declines amid subdued activity, though futures trading indicates Thursday may witness a rebound propelled primarily by Nvidia’s strong showing.
