Palantir Technologies Inc., PLTR
On Wednesday, William Blair analyst Louie DiPalma maintained his Outperform rating on Palantir, highlighting that the Maven Smart System is rapidly approaching the $1 billion mark in annual recurring revenue.
According to the firm’s government contract monitoring data, MSS represents Palantir’s most significant contract overall. DiPalma characterized the Pentagon’s commitment to the platform as comprehensive and unwavering.
“Every indication suggests robust expansion will continue through the next nine months,” DiPalma stated, noting that MSS is on track to achieve program-of-record designation before September ends.
An August 4 memorandum from Deputy Secretary of War Steve Feinberg, bearing the heading “Funding Palantir,” outlined plans for a $244 million expansion in Pentagon spending on Palantir solutions extending to March 2027.
An earlier March 9 directive mandated that MSS receive official program-of-record status no later than September’s conclusion. This classification would cement the platform’s position in Pentagon acquisition protocols.
Pentagon budget documents for fiscal 2027 included a $2.3 billion allocation for MSS alongside the Joint Fires Network, representing a substantial increase over previous funding levels.
Maven’s Combat Applications
DiPalma highlighted that Pentagon officials have characterized MSS as being “equally critical on the battlefield as the military’s most vital munitions.” The platform has been deployed with advanced language models for mission coordination, intelligence analysis, and target identification throughout Operation Epic Fury and Operation Absolute Resolve.
According to William Blair’s analysis, MSS serves as the fundamental catalyst driving Palantir’s U.S. government revenue expansion from a modest 5% in Q4 2023 to an impressive 90% in Q2 2026.
The company’s total revenue expanded 79% over the trailing twelve months ending Q2 2026, while maintaining gross profit margins of 84.8%.
Wall Street’s Recent Assessments
Palantir delivered Q2 2026 earnings that surpassed FactSet consensus forecasts. Top-line results exceeded projections by 6.8%, operating income outperformed by 10.5%, and free cash flow came in 9% above expectations.
In response to these results, UBS increased its price objective to $220, emphasizing revenue growth acceleration to 93% and raised full-year guidance projecting 82% expansion.
Truist Securities elevated its target to $223, identifying sovereign AI initiatives as a key growth catalyst. Truist maintained its Buy rating while emphasizing Palantir’s competitive advantage in attracting top AI engineering talent.
Phillip Securities boosted its price target to $215, incorporating a 6% upward revision to fiscal 2026 revenue and earnings projections.
Benchmark maintained its Hold rating, acknowledging Palantir’s enhanced Rule of 155 metric.
William Blair identified potential competitive pressure from large language model platforms as the primary downside risk, observing that former Palantir developers might construct comparable solutions using LLM infrastructure at reduced expense.
The firm also cautioned that MSS deployment momentum could decelerate following a shift in political leadership.
Palantir’s current market capitalization reaches $420.73 billion, although InvestingPro indicates the stock trades above its Fair Value calculation.
