SEB Agrees to $33 Million Penalty for AML Compliance Failures

Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB, along with its New York Branch, has consented to pay a penalty of $33 million following an investigation by the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS). The investigation focused on the bank's adherence to New York Banking Law and its anti-money laundering (AML) program.

Kaitlin Asrow, the Acting Superintendent of the DFS, announced the settlement, which aims to address the identified compliance failures. This penalty is part of a broader effort by the DFS to ensure that financial institutions operating in New York adhere to strict regulatory standards designed to prevent money laundering and other financial crimes.
