Singapore’s Temasek targets regional growth with Gulf offices

Singaporean state-owned Temasek plans to open offices in the UAE and Saudi Arabia in the first half of 2027, boosting its presence in the home of some of the world’s largest sovereign funds.

Temasek hopes its expansion into Riyadh and Abu Dhabi will help it capitalise on long-term regional opportunities, the Asian sovereign investor said in a statement.

The fund’s net portfolio value stood at $401 billion as of March 31.

In comparison, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority has $1.1 trillion in assets under management (AUM), according to the Global SWF ranking. Kuwait Investment Authority and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund have AUM exceeding $1 trillion.

The growth of its office network will further enable Temasek to engage with institutions in Middle Eastern markets as it seeks partnerships and investment opportunities.

The new offices, subject to statutory approval, will serve as strategic hubs for Temasek and its portfolio companies.

“The Middle East is an important part of Temasek’s global network,” CEO Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegar said.

He added that the fund seeks to deepen partnerships across the Middle East – particularly in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar.

The new premises will expand Temasek’s global network to 15 offices in 11 countries in 2027.
