S&P 500 Remains Below 8,000 Milestone Amid Economic Concerns

The S&P 500 index is currently 5.4% short of reaching the 8,000 milestone, as various economic factors hinder its progress. Rising bond yields, persistent inflation, and a hawkish outlook from the Federal Reserve have contributed to the stall in the index's rally.

CFRA has set a year-end target of 8,050 for the S&P 500 but cautions that a correction of 5% to 10% could occur, which is not uncommon in the current market environment. Despite these macroeconomic risks, Wall Street appears to be maintaining a level of calm, with the Volatility Index (VIX) remaining below 20 and corporate earnings continuing to provide some support for the market.
