Market attention has turned to recent Federal Communications Commission documentation submitted by SpaceX concerning Starship flight 14. The paperwork indicates September 15 as the planned operational commencement date and includes language about an “orbital second stage,” suggesting plans for the first orbital insertion test of Starship’s upper segment.
The previous Starship flight, designated test 13, took place in late July and achieved multiple objectives, including the successful release of 20 Starlink V3 satellites into orbit.
The company’s Starlink internet service has expanded to more than 12 million paying customers globally. During the latest reporting period, the connectivity division produced approximately $1.66 billion in operating income.
Financial results for the quarter showed revenue of $7.81 billion, marking a 91.9% increase from the same period last year. The firm recorded a per-share loss of $0.09, outperforming Wall Street’s consensus forecast of a $0.26 loss by $0.17.
Institutional Ownership Expanding
Carter Financial Group established a fresh stake in SpaceX throughout the second quarter, acquiring 7,809 shares worth around $1.33 million. Multiple other investment firms also entered positions, including Atwood & Palmer, Marquette Asset Management, and Orion Capital Management.
SpaceX trades within a 52-week band of $104.83 to $225.64 and maintains a 50-day moving average of $136.33.
Among Wall Street research firms, Cantor Fitzgerald maintains an “overweight” recommendation with a $246 price objective. Deutsche Bank carries a “buy” rating alongside a $255 forecast. Arete Research projects the most optimistic outlook on Wall Street at $450. The collective analyst view stands at “Moderate Buy” with a mean price target of $221.20.
Oppenheimer recently lifted its projection to $280, pointing to accelerated artificial intelligence adoption and infrastructure buildout. Bernstein established a $248 objective and forecasts AI-related revenue could increase nearly fivefold by 2027.
Challenges Remain Present
Not all developments are favorable. SpaceX allegedly reorganized its data facility management following reliability challenges at locations in Tennessee and Mississippi. A September 30 deadline approaches for Google’s purported $920 million monthly computing contract.
The company’s artificial intelligence division allegedly represented the majority of quarterly capital expenditures. Current valuation metrics provide limited cushion for operational missteps.
Concentration of leadership under Elon Musk continues to represent a governance consideration for certain institutional shareholders.
More encouraging signals include reports that Google and Anthropic have approached SpaceX for AI computing resources as terrestrial electricity supplies and data facility capacity face limitations.
The Department of Defense’s clearance of Starshield AI’s Grok system for government applications further strengthens SpaceX’s defense contracting and space-based computing narrative.
SpaceX aims to begin transporting commercial cargo aboard Starships before 2026 concludes. Financial analysts project a full-year per-share loss of $0.15 for the current fiscal period.
