Thursday’s Top Stock Performers: Generac (GNRC), Nebius, and Fluence Energy (FLNC) Make Headlines
Key Highlights
- Generac rocketed 33% higher following announcement of a potential $8 billion backup-power agreement with Amazon for data center operations
- Nebius stock climbed 8% following price increase announcement, boosting fellow neocloud companies Iren and CoreWeave
- Fluence Energy plummeted 16% following a significant reduction in full-year revenue projections from $3.1 billion to $2.4 billion
- Wednesday’s top mega-cap performers included GE Vernova, SpaceX, and AMD
- Lennar declined more than 2% following another reduction to its home delivery forecast, attributing challenges to interest rate headwinds
Generac Holdings emerged as Thursday’s most impressive stock performer, with shares skyrocketing 33% following the company’s disclosure of a strategic long-term supply partnership with Amazon to provide backup-power generation systems for data center facilities.
The partnership features $2.4 billion in guaranteed generator shipments scheduled for 2027 and 2028. Combined payments to Generac and its international subsidiaries may total as much as $8 billion, based on company filings.
Under the terms of the partnership, Generac granted an Amazon-affiliated entity warrants allowing the purchase of up to 1.69 million company shares with a strike price of approximately $200.93 per share.
Neocloud Sector Rallies
Nebius Group stock advanced 8% during premarket hours following the neocloud provider’s announcement of pricing increases. The development triggered sympathetic gains in competitor stocks including Iren and CoreWeave.
Vicor Corporation shares climbed 10% after revealing a licensing arrangement with an undisclosed OEM partner for its Vertical Power Delivery technology designed for advanced AI processing chips. Specific financial details of the agreement were not made public.
Among declining stocks, Fluence Energy tumbled 16% following a dramatic reduction in its full-year revenue forecast to $2.4 billion, substantially below its previous estimate ranging from $2.9 billion to $3.1 billion. The company additionally revised its adjusted EBITDA expectations to a loss of approximately $200 million for the fiscal year, compared to its earlier projection of roughly a $10 million loss.
Fluence attributed the shortfall to supply chain disruptions and slower-than-anticipated scaling of contract manufacturing facilities in Houston. Company executives emphasized that customer demand continues at robust levels and outlined measures implemented to boost daily production capacity.
Viant Technology shares declined 10% following the announcement of a secondary offering of 8.5 million Class A shares by existing shareholders. The company clarified that it would not receive any capital from the base share offering.
Notable Wednesday Market Activity
Wednesday’s trading session featured significant movement across various market capitalizations. GE Vernova advanced nearly 6%, SpaceX climbed more than 5%, and AMD increased 4%.
Arista Networks posted a 3% gain, while both Coherent and Credo Technology registered approximately 7% increases.
Declining stocks included Exxon Mobil, which fell 2.7%, and Chevron, which dropped 2.2%. J.B. Hunt Transportation experienced a 13% decline, representing one of the sharpest drops among major companies.
In small-cap trading, LuxExperience surged over 25% on stronger-than-expected revenue despite an earnings shortfall. Gloo Holdings rallied nearly 25%.
Lennar stock retreated more than 2% on Thursday following the homebuilder’s second downward revision of its full-year home delivery projections, pointing to elevated interest rates and deteriorating housing market fundamentals.
Nike shares advanced 1.5% on elevated trading volume, rebounding from the previous session’s 12-year closing low. The athletic apparel giant is scheduled to announce quarterly results on October 1.
Broader market indices traded modestly higher during premarket hours as market participants assessed a 25 basis point interest rate increase by the Federal Reserve alongside commentary from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh indicating a sustained aggressive stance on combating inflation.
