Nebius (NBIS) Stock Surges 9% Following Major AI Compute Price Increase
Key Highlights
- Shares of Nebius (NBIS) surged approximately 9% during pre-market hours on September 17 following the announcement of price increases across its AI compute platform.
- The new pricing structure becomes effective October 1, impacting Nvidia H100, H200, B200, and B300 GPU offerings with increases between 17% and 21%.
- AMD EPYC Genoa CPU pricing will climb 25%, accompanied by a 41% increase in memory costs.
- Industry competitors CoreWeave (CRWV) and Iren (IREN) experienced gains of approximately 6% and 5%, respectively, following the announcement.
- The company reported Q2 2026 revenue reaching $582 million, representing a 454% year-over-year increase, with AI cloud revenue jumping 514%.
Shares of Nebius Group (NBIS) experienced a significant 9% surge during Thursday’s pre-market session after the AI infrastructure provider announced widespread price increases across its compute services portfolio. The adjustments, which take effect on October 1, encompass both GPU and CPU offerings and signal robust demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure.
News of the pricing adjustments initially emerged through social media platforms including X and Reddit before gaining broader coverage via Stocktwits. The announcement created immediate momentum across the AI infrastructure sector.
With a market capitalization hovering around $56.92 billion entering Thursday’s trading session, NBIS stock’s pre-market surge underscores investor sensitivity to indicators of pricing strength within the AI cloud computing industry.
Significant GPU Rate Adjustments
For GPU services, Nebius will implement a roughly 17% increase for Nvidia H100 chips, bringing rates to $4.50 per GPU-hour. The H200 will see a 20% bump to $5.40, while B200 pricing increases 19% to $8.50. The B300 faces the largest adjustment at 21%, climbing to $9.50 per GPU-hour.
These substantial price revisions across Nvidia’s most sought-after processors indicate that the company is capitalizing on constrained supply amid persistent demand.
CPU offerings aren’t exempt from the increases either. AMD EPYC Genoa CPU rates will jump 25% to $0.015 per vCPU-hour, and Genoa memory pricing escalates approximately 41% to $0.0045 per GiB-hour.
The pricing announcement created positive momentum for industry competitors as well. CoreWeave (CRWV) shares advanced roughly 6% while Iren (IREN) gained approximately 5% during pre-market activity.
Impressive Q2 Financial Performance
The company delivered Q2 2026 revenue totaling $582 million, marking a remarkable 454% year-over-year expansion. Within this figure, AI cloud revenue specifically grew 514%. Management anticipates $9 billion in customer prepayments throughout 2026.
Q2 capital expenditures reached $5.7 billion, exceeding analyst projections of $4.7 billion. The company also elevated its 2026 contracted power capacity target to 5 GW from the previous goal of over 4 GW, with plans to add more than 1 GW annually beginning in 2027.
However, despite impressive growth metrics, the stock trades at a Price-to-Sales ratio of 45.35, significantly exceeding its historical median of 6.79. The company continues to operate at a loss, with trailing twelve-month EPS of -0.13 and negative free cash flow.
The company’s GF Score registers at 51 out of 100. Growth and momentum metrics rank highest, though valuation receives a minimal score of 2 out of 10.
Insider transactions over the previous 12 months reveal zero purchases alongside $173 million in stock sales. Conversely, eight institutional gurus maintain NBIS positions, with seven having increased their stakes recently.
This pricing strategy emerges from a quarter where AI compute demand clearly exceeded available supply, a market imbalance Nebius is now leveraging more assertively.
