U.S. Inflation Data Expected to Influence Federal Reserve's Interest Rate Decision

Financial markets are anticipating a significant decision from the U.S. Federal Reserve regarding interest rates, with a 61% probability of a 25 basis point hike on September 16, 2026. This comes as investors await the release of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data, which is expected to show a 0.2% increase in core inflation and a 0.4% rise in headline inflation month-over-month.

The upcoming inflation report is poised to impact market expectations and could lead to a shift in the likelihood of a rate increase. Currently, there is a 39% chance that the Federal Reserve will choose to maintain the current rate instead of implementing a hike. The 10-year Treasury yield is hovering around 4.95%, approaching the critical 5% threshold, which adds further significance to the inflation data.
