U.S. Treasury Secretary Claims Energy Shock May Be Easing

During a recent appearance on 2WAY TV, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the country may be on the "other side of the energy shock." This assertion comes amid ongoing fluctuations in crude oil prices, which have seen significant increases since the onset of geopolitical tensions earlier this year.

As of today, December crude oil futures reached $101.37 before slipping below the $100 mark, representing a 0.78% increase. This price is approximately 49% higher than the $67 level seen before the conflict began on February 28. While Bessent suggests that the worst of the initial price spike may be over, he cautioned that the market's price action must confirm this narrative.

Traders are closely monitoring key technical levels to assess market dynamics. Current support zones are identified between $97.00 and $98.48, with further critical benchmarks at the 100-hour moving average of $96.83 and the 200-hour moving average at $94.46. A sustained move below these levels could indicate a shift in market control from buyers to sellers, although the overall technical bias remains tilted towards higher prices for now.
