US Crude Oil Inventories Show Significant Decline

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported a substantial decrease in crude oil inventories, with a drop of 8.557 million barrels for the week, significantly surpassing the expected decline of 288,000 barrels. This marks a notable shift from the previous week's inventory change, which saw a decrease of 3.186 million barrels.

In addition to crude oil, gasoline inventories also experienced a decline, falling by 3.186 million barrels compared to an anticipated drop of 800,000 barrels. Distillate inventories also decreased, with a reported decline of 1.560 million barrels against expectations of a 1.560 million barrel drop. These figures indicate tightening supply conditions in the U.S. oil market.

On the trading front, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil reached its highest price since late September, rising by $2.33 to $97.41 per barrel. This price increase comes amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, with former U.S. President Donald Trump commenting on the situation in Iran, suggesting that the conflict will conclude soon and that oil prices will subsequently fall. However, there are currently no indications of forthcoming diplomatic resolutions.
