US Wholesale Inflation Rises to 5.4% in August

Wholesale inflation in the United States accelerated to 5.4% in August 2026, marking a significant increase that has raised concerns among economists and policymakers. This rise in inflation is seen as a critical indicator of the overall economic landscape, influencing decisions on monetary policy.

In response to the inflation data, the likelihood of a rate hike by the Federal Reserve has surged to 72%. This increase in the odds reflects growing expectations that the central bank may take action to curb inflationary pressures in the economy.

Additionally, the yield on the 10-year Treasury note climbed to 4.93%, approaching its highest level since 2023. This rise in yields is often viewed as a response to inflationary trends and can impact borrowing costs across various sectors.
