Bybit CEO Offers Support to Bitget Following Hacking Incident

Ben Zhou, co-founder and CEO of Bybit, announced that his team is prepared to assist Bitget in the aftermath of a recent hacking incident. This follows a history of mutual support between the two cryptocurrency exchanges, particularly highlighted by Bitget's assistance during a significant hacking attack on Bybit in February 2025, which resulted in the theft of approximately $1.46 billion worth of Ethereum, attributed to the North Korean hacking group Lazarus.

In response to the latest incident, Zhou indicated that Bybit is updating its LazarusBounty platform to help Bitget track the flow of the relevant funds. This initiative aims to enhance the security and transparency of transactions following the breach.

During the previous hacking event, Bitget provided crucial support by transferring 40,000 ETH, valued at around $10.5 million to $10.6 million at that time, to Bybit. This transfer was made from Bitget's reserves and was characterized as an interest-free, unsecured loan, intended to assist Bybit in managing liquidity and addressing withdrawal demands.
