Goldman Sachs CEO denies departure rumors, says no leadership transition plan or timeline currently

PANews, October 13 - Goldman Sachs Group CEO David Solomon downplayed recent rumors about a possible leadership transition at the company, calling them just "noise." Goldman Sachs COO John Waldron has long been viewed as a potential successor to Solomon. Recent reports suggested that Solomon could step down as early as next year, once again putting the timing of a Goldman Sachs leadership transition in the market spotlight.

Solomon said Tuesday on an earnings call with analysts: "I want to be clear, there is no succession transition underway at Goldman Sachs, and there is no timeline. The board and I are fully focused on the firm's growth strategy and continuing to deliver excellent service to clients." He added that he is pleased with the company's progress, which makes him enjoy his current role even more.
