U.S. Federal Trade Commission Initiates Review of Online Sports Betting Industry

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) of the United States has commenced an early review of the online sports betting industry. This initiative is primarily aimed at investigating allegations of false or misleading advertising practices by major betting companies, including FanDuel and DraftKings.

The review will not encompass prediction market platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket, which are expected to remain outside the scope of the FTC's scrutiny. This move reflects growing regulatory interest in ensuring transparency and fairness within the rapidly expanding online sports betting sector.
