Google updates UAE crypto advertising policy, licensing and certification requirements take effect October 21

PANews reported on October 20 that, according to a Google Ads policy announcement, starting October 21, 2026, advertisers running cryptocurrency exchange and software wallet ads targeting the UAE must obtain a license from one of the designated local regulators and pass Google certification. Acceptable licensing authorities include the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), and the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). Advertisers must also comply with other local legal requirements. The policy applies to all accounts worldwide that run the above ads targeting the UAE.
