OpenAI Launches ChatGPT for Financial Services

On September 10, 2026, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT for Financial Services, a specialized version of its AI technology designed to meet the needs of the financial sector. This new offering integrates built-in financial data with the advanced reasoning capabilities of GPT-6 Astra, aiming to assist teams in research, financial modeling, and the customization of client materials.

The development of this product involved collaborations with prominent financial firms, including Morgan Stanley and Evercore. It features data from various providers such as Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase, encompassing earnings call transcripts, financial statements, and company fundamentals, all indexed and hosted by OpenAI with support for detailed citations.

Initially targeting investment banking and equity research, ChatGPT for Financial Services is available to eligible financial institutions. The product emphasizes enterprise security and governance, allowing administrators to publish templates in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint formats. Notably, data used within the platform is not employed for training models by default and includes robust security features like encryption and single sign-on (SSO).
