Solana's Daily App Revenue Surges Ahead of Base by 16.9 Times
Solana's decentralized applications are generating significantly higher revenue compared to those on Base, with recent data from DeFiLlama revealing that Solana earned approximately $5.14 million in daily app revenue, while Base reported around $304,000. This marks a substantial ratio of 16.9 to 1, highlighting a growing divide in application-layer monetization between the two blockchain platforms.
Throughout 2026, Solana has maintained a strong lead in app revenue, with monthly figures rising from $91 million in May to $143 million by August, reflecting a 57% increase over three months. This growth has been largely driven by trading platforms and token launchpads that have chosen Solana as their primary network.
In contrast, Base has struggled to convert its transaction volumes into meaningful application-layer revenue despite its backing from Coinbase and the excitement surrounding Ethereum Layer-2 scaling. Solana's high throughput has attracted a concentration of high-frequency trading applications, which contribute to substantial fees per user session, further widening the revenue gap between the two chains. This trend raises questions about the effectiveness of Layer-2 solutions compared to monolithic chains like Solana, which proponents argue offer better conditions for app monetization.
