SpaceX vs. Apple: One Looks Maxed Out While the Other Has Upside
SpaceX vs Apple is one of those comparisons that keeps popping up on Wall Street right now, and for good reason. Wall Street’s current split on SpaceX vs Apple stock is pretty stark: the average SpaceX stock upside sits near 51 percent, while Apple’s target only really points to about 5 percent more room. That’s also why a lot of people are searching for SpaceX stock today, trying to figure out if Apple stock better suits someone who wants less risk, or if the SpaceX vs Apple stock trade is worth chasing anyway.
SpaceX vs Apple Stock: Which Has More Upside And Less Risk?

Apple Stock Today: Analysts Call It Fully Valued
Apple went public back in 1980, and it now carries a market cap of close to 4.7 trillion dollars. Tim Cook stepped down as CEO at 65, and John Ternus, who used to run hardware engineering, took over on September 1st. Right after that, Apple also rolled out the Apple 18 Pro and an iPhone Duo, the company’s new foldable that starts at 1,999 dollars.
Apple stock is up about 18 percent this year, which is decent, but not exactly thrilling anyone. Out of the 32 analysts TipRanks tracks, 16 call it a buy, 12 say hold, and four recommend selling, and the average price target lands around 336 dollars, only about 5 percent above where shares traded on September 10th. Rosenblatt’s Barton Crockett kept his rating at Neutral and nudged his target up to 303 dollars, tying it pretty directly to how Ternus handles his first big product cycle.
Barton Crockett, Rosenblatt analyst, said:
“We update Apple estimates for what promises to be a September to remember.”
That line pretty much sums up where Wall Street stands on Apple right now, solid, but not cheap. That’s also one reason some think Apple stock better rewards patience than chasing SpaceX’s bigger swings, and it’s a big part of the whole SpaceX vs Apple conversation happening this month.
SpaceX Stock Today: Bigger Upside, Bigger Bet
SpaceX’s IPO back in June raised almost 86 billion dollars, still the biggest IPO ever, and its market cap now tops 2 trillion. Beyond rockets, the company also runs Starlink, an AI arm that includes Grok and X, plus a data center business that’s growing fast, all chasing a market SpaceX itself says is worth 28.5 trillion dollars.
Most of the 30-plus analysts TipRanks tracks rate SpaceX a buy, and the average price target sits somewhere around 228 to 232 dollars, which works out to roughly 51 to 65 percent above where shares traded in mid-September. SpaceX stock today trades well under that number, and that gap is basically what’s fueling the bullish case. Oppenheimer’s Timothy Horan raised his target to 280 dollars from 250 after SpaceX bought Cursor for 60 billion dollars.
Timothy Horan, Oppenheimer analyst, told CNBC’s Power Lunch:
“The company’s doing an incredible job with AI.”
Horan also said SpaceX is aiming for a 100 billion dollar revenue run rate by the end of the year, and he expects 120 to 130 billion next year. That kind of SpaceX stock upside really comes down to whether Starship can fly on a reliable schedule, and that’s the core of the SpaceX vs Apple gap right now.
SpaceX Vs Apple: Which Fits Your Risk Tolerance
Choosing between SpaceX vs Apple stock really just comes down to how much risk someone wants to sit with. Apple’s smaller upside reflects a business that’s already mature, built on steady hardware sales, while SpaceX’s bigger forecasted gain depends on Starship, satellite growth, and its AI bets all landing roughly on plan. Not everyone agrees, either. Morningstar’s Nicolas Owens values SpaceX well below where it’s trading right now, and Rosenblatt still counts as one of the more cautious names on Apple.
That SpaceX stock upside keeps pulling bulls toward the stock, and Apple’s steadier path also keeps it a favorite in more conservative portfolios. At the time of writing, the SpaceX vs Apple decision still splits along pretty familiar lines: growth and risk on one side, stability and a smaller edge on the other. For some, Apple stock better fits the bill. For others, it’s SpaceX or nothing.
