X Introduces Direct Trading Features for U.S. Users

The social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, has launched a new feature allowing users in the United States to initiate trades directly through market tags. Users can click on tags such as $BTC for Bitcoin and $TSLA for Tesla to access real-time market charts and related posts. A 'Trade' button redirects users to partner platforms to complete their transactions, although X itself does not function as a broker.

This new trading capability is supported by several partner platforms, including Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken, and Coinbase. While market tags have been a feature on X for several years, the platform enhanced them earlier this year by adding real-time prices and chart functionalities. Mridul Singhai, head of product engineering at X, remarked that these market tags have effectively shortened the distance between stock codes and market activity.

With approximately 132 million daily active users on mobile and over 245 million across all devices, X aims to expand its role in the financial sector. This feature aligns with Musk's vision of transforming X into a comprehensive financial hub, integrating social media with trading functionalities.
