X Introduces U.S. 'Trade' Button for Cashtags with Major Brokerage Partnerships

On September 15, X launched a U.S. Cashtag Partner Program that integrates stock, exchange-traded fund (ETF), and cryptocurrency pages with major brokerage firms including Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers, and Moomoo. This new feature allows users to access price charts and related posts for various assets and then navigate to the brokerage's app or website to complete transactions.

The 'Trade' button does not facilitate transactions directly on X. Instead, users can tap a Cashtag to view its details, select a participating brokerage, and then log in or create an account to finalize their trades. Each partner offers different asset coverage; for instance, Gemini supports stocks and five cryptocurrencies, while Kraken allows access to its catalog of over 2,400 tokens.

X's workflow guides users from discovering an asset to connecting with a brokerage partner, but the actual trading process occurs within the brokerage's platform. This initiative aims to streamline the transition from asset discovery on X to executing trades through established brokerage services, enhancing user engagement in financial markets.
