ARK Invest Acquires $25M in Rocket Lab (RKLB) Stock While Reducing Alphabet Holdings

      Quick Summary

      • ARK Invest purchased 359,612 shares of Rocket Lab valued at approximately $25.1 million through three exchange-traded funds.
      • The investment firm sold 16,422 shares of Alphabet, representing around $5.8 million in value.
      • Total Rocket Lab holdings at ARK have surpassed 3.2 million shares, with an estimated value of $225 million.
      • The upcoming Neutron rocket launch vehicle represents a critical component of Rocket Lab’s expansion strategy, scheduled for late 2026.
      • Additional portfolio adjustments included biotech acquisitions alongside reductions in Twist Bioscience, 10X Genomics, and Everpure holdings.

Cathie Wood’s investment management firm ARK Invest increased its holdings in Rocket Lab by $25 million this Tuesday, simultaneously decreasing its stake in Alphabet.

The acquisition involved 359,612 shares of Rocket Lab distributed across ARKK, ARKQ, and ARKX exchange-traded funds. This transaction, valued at approximately $25.1 million, continues ARK’s pattern of expanding its position during recent price declines.

After this latest acquisition, ARK’s total Rocket Lab holdings have reportedly exceeded 3.2 million shares across multiple ETFs, representing approximately $225 million based on current market prices.

Strategic Expansion in Rocket Lab Holdings

Rocket Lab has established its reputation primarily through Electron, its small-satellite launch system, though the company’s long-term investment appeal centers heavily on Neutron.

This upcoming reusable medium-lift rocket aims to capture market share in the competitive launch sector. The company projects a fourth-quarter 2026 inaugural launch, though executives acknowledge that qualification testing may delay operations into 2027.

Beyond launch capabilities, Rocket Lab has diversified into satellite manufacturing and communications infrastructure. These additional revenue streams provide broader market access across both commercial and governmental space sectors.

ARK’s recent acquisition follows a pattern of consistent buying during Rocket Lab’s pullback from peak prices reached in May. This sustained accumulation indicates confidence in maintaining exposure as the stock shows signs of recovery.

      Scaling Back Alphabet Investment

Concurrently, ARK divested 16,422 shares of Alphabet distributed between ARKQ and ARKX funds, totaling approximately $5.8 million in value.

This divestment represents a modest transaction relative to the Rocket Lab acquisition. While Alphabet maintains its position as a dominant global technology leader with substantial profitability, uncertainty persists regarding artificial intelligence’s potential impact on its core search operations.

Alphabet has been advancing its Gemini AI platform alongside proprietary AI chip development, positioning the company for expanded participation in AI infrastructure and software markets.

This juxtaposition illustrates contrasting investment approaches. Alphabet delivers significant cash flow currently, whereas Rocket Lab’s market valuation relies predominantly on projected growth across launch operations, Neutron deployment, and space infrastructure development.

      Biotechnology Portfolio Adjustments

ARK executed multiple biotechnology transactions on Tuesday as well. The firm acquired 88,323 shares in Scribe Therapeutics valued at roughly $2.5 million, complemented by smaller investments in Veracyte and Beam Therapeutics.

Simultaneously, ARK decreased holdings in Twist Bioscience and 10X Genomics. The firm also liquidated an additional 19,139 Everpure shares through ARKW.

The Rocket Lab transaction clearly dominated Tuesday’s trading activity. This movement underscores ARK’s ongoing commitment to disruptive innovation across aerospace, biotechnology, and next-generation technology sectors.
