Consumer Group Warns of WhatsApp Screen-Sharing Scam

Which?, a prominent consumer advocacy group in the United Kingdom, has issued a warning regarding a new screen-sharing scam that targets users of the messaging platform WhatsApp. In this scheme, fraudsters impersonate representatives from banks and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to deceive individuals into sharing sensitive information.

The scam involves criminals convincing victims to share their screens under the pretense of providing assistance with banking issues. Once access is granted, the fraudsters can exploit the information to gain unauthorized access to bank accounts and other personal data.

Which? has urged users to remain vigilant and to avoid sharing their screens or personal information with anyone they do not trust. The organization emphasizes the importance of verifying the identity of anyone requesting sensitive information, especially through digital communication channels.
