European Commission Approves Roche's Susvimo for Eye Disease Treatment

The European Commission has granted approval for Roche's Susvimo, a new treatment for neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). This condition is a leading cause of vision loss among older adults, characterized by the growth of abnormal blood vessels in the eye that can lead to severe visual impairment.

Susvimo is designed to provide sustained delivery of the active ingredient, which aims to reduce the frequency of injections needed for patients. This innovative approach is expected to improve the quality of life for individuals suffering from nAMD by potentially reducing the treatment burden associated with frequent eye injections.

The approval marks a significant advancement in the management of nAMD, offering healthcare providers a new option to help patients maintain their vision. Roche plans to make Susvimo available across European Union member states in the coming months.
