European Stock Markets Close Mixed as UK Leads Gains

European stock markets concluded trading on a mixed note, with the UK's FTSE 100 index leading the gains. The FTSE 100 rose by 115.47 points, or 1.08%, closing at 10,840.34. France's CAC 40 also saw an increase, gaining 61.59 points, or 0.78%, to finish at 7,934.71. In contrast, Germany's DAX index added 69.41 points, or 0.27%, closing at 25,368.03, while Spain's IBEX 35 and Italy's FTSE MIB experienced declines, falling by 53.00 points, or 0.28%, and 356.29 points, or 0.72%, respectively.

Bond yields across major European markets decreased, contributing to the mixed performance of the stock indices. The benchmark 10-year yields fell, with Spain and Italy leading the declines. Germany's yield decreased to 3.412%, while France's yield dropped to 4.794%. The UK yield fell to 5.379%, and both Spanish and Italian yields also saw significant reductions, narrowing their spreads against the German benchmark.

In the United States, stock markets displayed a split performance as European traders wrapped up their sessions. The Dow Industrial Average rose by 495.03 points, or 0.96%, closing at 52,121.20, while the S&P 500 gained 8.30 points, or 0.11%, to finish at 7,727.24. Conversely, the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell by 97.11 points, or 0.36%, ending at 26,595.75. Lower Treasury yields provided a supportive backdrop for the markets, although technology stocks faced ongoing pressure.
