France Plans Record €340 Billion Debt Issuance in 2027

France is set to issue a record €340 billion in medium- and long-term debt in 2027, as the country's total borrowing requirement reaches €339.7 billion. This significant borrowing is driven by a combination of new financing needs and a substantial amount of debt redemptions.

The Agence France Trésor (AFT) has reported that €189.2 billion of debt will need to be refinanced, adding to the pressure on public finances. The AFT anticipates that 3-month treasury bills will yield around 3%, while the 10-year benchmark is expected to reach approximately 4.3%. This reflects the increasingly costly environment for borrowing in France.
