Barclays Predicts U.S. 30-Year Treasury Yield May Reach 6%

Barclays has projected that the yield on the U.S. 30-year Treasury bond could rise to 6% if the ongoing boom in artificial intelligence investments leads to a sustained increase in productivity across the United States. The bank suggests that enhanced productivity could contribute to stronger economic growth, which in turn may prompt markets to adjust their long-term expectations for interest rates set by the Federal Reserve.

Currently, the 30-year Treasury yield has surpassed 5.61%, marking its highest level since 2002. This increase reflects broader market trends and expectations regarding future economic performance and monetary policy. Barclays' analysis indicates that if productivity continues to improve, it could lead to higher long-term yields as investors reassess their outlook on economic growth and inflation.
