France Proposes Release of 100 Million Barrels from Energy Reserves

France has put forward a proposal for European Union member states to release a total of 100 million barrels from their energy reserves, comprising 50 million barrels of crude oil and 50 million barrels of diesel. This initiative comes as Europe faces pressure from the United States to increase fuel supplies amid rising energy prices.

The proposal is currently under technical review, with Germany expressing hesitance to proceed with the release unless there are significant concerns regarding supply security. In light of these discussions, French President Emmanuel Macron is planning to convene leaders from the Group of Seven (G7) nations to coordinate strategies aimed at alleviating energy prices and ensuring a stable supply of crude oil and refined products globally.
