Goldman Sachs Anticipates Federal Reserve Rate Hike in October

Goldman Sachs has revised its expectations regarding the U.S. Federal Reserve's monetary policy, now forecasting an additional 25 basis point interest rate hike in October. This adjustment follows a recent Federal Open Market Committee meeting that was perceived as more hawkish than previously expected.

The bank's updated outlook aligns with similar predictions from other financial institutions, including Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ), Bank of America (BofA), Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), and TD Securities. Goldman Sachs noted a significant 16-2 vote split among Fed officials favoring another rate increase this year, alongside elevated projections for future rates.

The commentary from Fed Governor Kevin Warsh, who emphasized the need to remove a 'dose of accommodation,' further supports the likelihood of a forthcoming rate hike. This shift in sentiment reflects ongoing concerns about inflation and the overall economic landscape in the United States.
