Key FX Option Expiries Highlighted for October 20
On October 20, a significant expiry level for the EUR/USD currency pair is noted at 1.1265, approximately 35 pips from the current spot price. This level is expected to act as a price magnet if the euro maintains its position above 1.1200. However, the euro may struggle to gain sustained support due to ongoing political and fiscal concerns in France, which could limit upward momentum despite the notable expiries.
In addition to the EUR/USD expiry, there is a sizeable expiry for USD/JPY at the 159.00 level, though it is positioned more than 70 pips away from the current trading range, reducing its immediate impact. Market participants are also closely monitoring the bond market, where U.S. Treasury yields have increased slightly, with 10-year yields rising to approximately 5.12%.
This uptick in yields could influence market sentiment, potentially favoring the U.S. dollar if a selloff in the bond market occurs. Such a scenario would further distance the EUR/USD from the key expiry level, diminishing its relevance in the current trading environment.
