LG Electronics shares advanced 6.2% to reach 215,000 won during Tuesday’s Seoul trading session, significantly outpacing the KOSPI index’s 1.2% gain.

The rally followed LG’s disclosure that Nvidia had approved its 2.6-megawatt coolant distribution unit for integration with the Nvidia DSX AI Factory platform. The system is now featured on the Nvidia DSX AI Factory Marketplace.

This represents LG’s most powerful CDU to achieve Nvidia qualification. The electronics giant previously secured approvals for 600kW and 1MW models. Nvidia classifies the newest 2.6MW unit as a “Large-Scale” cooling solution.

Designed to manage thermal output from extensive AI server deployments, the 2.6MW CDU operates by pumping coolant through cold plates mounted directly onto CPUs and GPUs, then transferring that thermal energy to the data center’s primary cooling infrastructure.

Complete Cooling Ecosystem

LG has been developing what it describes as a “Chip-to-Chiller” product range, encompassing every stage of the cooling process from AI processors to facility-wide heat management. This comprehensive offering includes chillers, computer room air handlers, and advanced liquid-cooling technologies.

According to the company, power density within AI data center racks now routinely exceeds hundreds of kilowatts. Such demanding thermal loads surpass the capabilities of conventional rack-level cooling approaches, creating the need for megawatt-class centralized cooling infrastructure.

LG received Nvidia certification for its 600kW CDU in July. During that certification process, Nvidia confirmed the unit successfully met over 100 technical evaluation standards, encompassing cooling efficiency, system reliability, and backup operation capabilities.

The 2.6MW system underwent more rigorous testing to achieve the “DSX Ready” qualification. This designation places it at the peak of LG’s certified cooling product range in terms of capacity.

Strategic Product Launches

The announcement’s timing was carefully coordinated. On Monday, LG introduced a new air-cooled centrifugal chiller specifically designed for AI data center environments, just 24 hours before revealing the Nvidia qualification.

LG stated the certification validates its status as a “first mover in the next-generation liquid cooling market.” The company indicated its commitment to delivering solutions that support the expansion of AI infrastructure worldwide.

Nvidia’s DSX AI Factory platform establishes benchmark specifications for AI data center infrastructure. Inclusion in the DSX Marketplace provides LG with enhanced exposure to data center operators deploying Nvidia-powered AI computing systems.

This certification strengthens LG’s presence in the AI infrastructure sector during a period of escalating demand for high-capacity cooling solutions, driven by increasingly power-intensive AI processors.

By mid-afternoon in Seoul, LG shares had climbed as high as 7.2%, based on Dow Jones market data.
