Niobrara Capital closes inaugural fund with more than $1.5bn in commitments

New York-based private equity firm Niobrara Capital Partners has closed its debut private equity fund and related investment vehicles with more than $1.5bn in total committed capital, exceeding its original fundraising target by 50%.

The firm said Niobrara Founders Fund, together with its parallel vehicles, secured more than $1.1bn at final close. Including related co-investment vehicles, total commitments surpassed $1.5bn.

The fund will invest in middle-market business-to-business technology and technology-enabled services companies, focusing on businesses positioned to benefit from major technology trends.

Niobrara targets companies it considers first- or second-order beneficiaries of technology megatrends and aims to help them develop into leading businesses within their respective markets.

The firm said it will work alongside founders, management teams and corporate partners to support growth, operational improvements and strategic development across its portfolio.

Managing partner Chip Schorr said the fund had significantly exceeded its target despite challenging fundraising conditions, adding that the backing from limited partners validated Niobrara’s investment approach and the experience of its team.

Partner Mike Pompeo said the firm’s portfolio was expanding, with its fourth platform investment recently completed, while its pipeline of potential deals continues to grow.

Niobrara said it plans to continue deploying capital across the B2B technology sector while pursuing growth and performance improvements at its portfolio companies.

Davis Polk & Wardwell acted as legal adviser to the fund.
