Semiconductor manufacturer Qorvo (QRVO) touched a new 52-week peak of $120.76 this past Friday, opening the session at $119.51 while maintaining a market capitalization of $10.54 billion. This milestone represents an impressive climb of approximately 55% during the last half-year period, significantly outpacing its 33% one-year advance.
The upward trajectory has been accompanied by significant institutional activity. Bank of America established a fresh position valued at $182.13 million in Qorvo throughout the second quarter, accumulating 1,952,729 shares. This investment grants the banking giant approximately 2.21% ownership in the chip maker.
Bank of America’s move reflects broader institutional interest. Multiple institutional investors have recently expanded or initiated stakes in Qorvo. Amundi increased its holdings by a substantial 197.2% during the first quarter, while LSV Asset Management expanded its stake by 2.3% in the fourth quarter. Institutional ownership now represents 88.57% of the company’s total shares.
Strong Quarterly Performance Fueled Gains
Qorvo’s latest financial results provided solid support for the stock’s advance. The semiconductor firm posted earnings per share of $1.64 for the period concluding July 28, substantially exceeding the Wall Street consensus forecast of $1.11 by $0.53. Total revenue reached $784.79 million, surpassing analyst projections of $743.28 million.
While revenue declined 4.2% on a year-over-year basis, compared to EPS of $0.92 reported during the corresponding quarter last year, the magnitude of the earnings surprise captured investor attention. Following the report, nine equity analysts increased their forward earnings projections for the upcoming reporting period.
Looking ahead to fiscal year 2027, Qorvo has established EPS guidance at $7.00. The current analyst consensus calls for $6.42 in earnings per share for the present fiscal year.
Wall Street Price Targets Trail Current Valuation
Notwithstanding the substantial rally, analyst price targets haven’t kept pace with the stock’s momentum. The consensus Wall Street price target remains at $94.00, considerably beneath QRVO’s current trading level.
Among equity analysts tracking the stock, three maintain Buy recommendations, fourteen rate it as Hold, and one analyst carries a Sell rating.
UBS emerged as one of the more optimistic voices, elevating its price target from $91 to $96 while assigning a “Buy” rating on July 29. Wall Street Zen upgraded QRVO from “Hold” to “Buy” status in early August. Conversely, Citigroup reduced its target from $100 to $95 while maintaining a “Neutral” stance.
Both TD Cowen and Weiss Ratings retained their “Hold” recommendations.
Technical indicators show the stock’s 50-day simple moving average at $96.22 and its 200-day moving average at $91.31, placing the current share price significantly above both technical benchmarks. The 12-month low registered at $74.92.
Regarding insider transactions, SVP Frank P. Stewart divested 8,279 shares on August 31 at an average price of $94.72 per share. CFO Grant Brown sold 5,179 shares on August 17 at $97.50 each. Company insiders have collectively disposed of 62,309 shares valued at approximately $6.3 million during the past three months.
