The advancement marks a dramatic turnaround for the cloud communications platform. Shares have skyrocketed more than 200% since bottoming at $99.22 during the past year.

Looking at the 12-month performance, the equity has climbed approximately 189%. This places it among the top-performing technology names in the current trading year.

The surge accompanies significant index developments. The company is set to become an S&P 500 constituent when markets open on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Warner Bros. Discovery will exit the benchmark index as Paramount Skydance’s takeover reaches completion on that same date.

      Index Reshuffle Creates Domino Effect

The reorganization extends beyond the flagship index. Twilio’s promotion from the S&P MidCap 400 sets off a series of movements.

FormFactor is slated to fill the vacancy left by Twilio in the MidCap 400. Meanwhile, Workiva will occupy FormFactor’s former position in the SmallCap 600.

An additional corporate action is also influencing index composition. Vylor, the seed and genetics division spun off from Corteva, joined the S&P 500 following Thursday’s separation.

Corteva will migrate to the MidCap 400 due to its reduced market capitalization after the spinoff. Vylor’s debut saw shares climb 3.4% during regular trading, followed by an additional 1.1% gain in after-hours activity.

Wall Street Embraces Artificial Intelligence Thesis

Analyst sentiment toward Twilio’s AI prospects has strengthened recently. Rosenblatt elevated its price objective to $290, highlighting the firm’s capacity to generate revenue from AI-powered communications tools.

TD Cowen pushed its target to $300. The research house emphasized rising adoption of consumer-facing AI assistants as a genuine catalyst.

JCI took a more aggressive stance, elevating the stock to Market Outperform. The firm highlighted momentum in AI voice technology and multi-channel customer interaction.

Morgan Stanley’s team identified a more targeted opportunity. Analysts noted that consumer AI agents, such as Meta’s Muse, could significantly increase message volumes flowing through Twilio’s platform and drive usage-based fees higher.

Stifel maintained its Buy recommendation as well. The firm attributed some of the recent rally to Meta Muse, which currently ranks as the leading free iOS application in the United States.

However, not all indicators align uniformly. InvestingPro data reveals that 23 analysts have recently raised their earnings projections for the company.

Yet the platform’s Fair Value assessment indicates shares may be trading above fundamental value at present levels. This discrepancy represents a dynamic worth monitoring.

Currently, Twilio is poised to enter the S&P 500 riding strong upward momentum. The stock added another 1% in after-hours trading following the index news, having more than doubled since the beginning of the year.
